A series of lights and a wind turbine made from plastic found on the beach. A mechanical light wave has been created operated either by hand or by an old windscreen car wiper motor. All the power for both the LED lights and the motor comes from the turbine made from a plastic barrel picked up off the beach and converted into a vertical access wind turbine (a Darrieus variety made solely from the plastic barrel), which then feeds two deep-cycle 12 volt batteries. The wave is symbolic of the place where the raw materials were found (the beach) and of the potential of waste to be re-used as an energy source as well as the artwork. This project was first showcased at Afrika Burn 2014 but will be augmented into a larger outdoor structure.

An animation of hundreds of photographs of small plastic sculptures made from litter found on the beach. Part of the wider plasticbeaches.com project which is open to public participation.

The principle structures in these "hinged-vertebra" designs are original and have been patented. PET bottles were used for the prototyping but other materials would be used for commercial applications of the wheel-like structure.

Mixed assembly using discarded waste found on vacant land opposite the Puerto Pubells manufacturing plant. Two experimental animations using discarded plastic wire coatings.
